Funny you should mention such a thing, Tom, because I've been musing and
cogitating for more than a year about *some* kind of Tweeters book
project. It's all Jerry's fault. Which Jerry I don't remember... there
was a clothing thread on Tweeters quite awhile back, and Jerry posted an
anecdote about a hummingbird stealing fuzz from his wife Clarice's
sweater (or maybe it was Claire?). Anyway, I thought what a *charming*
image, and it has haunted me since.

I've been thinking all this time about gathering such anecdotes into a
collection, sprinkled throughout with historical facts and puns and
poems, those written by others as well as "found poems" that I weave from
what I read. Now, I feel ready to begin. However, my focus is still not
quite clear. One Tweet suggested to me privately that I just start the
project and see where it goes. Another suggested that I widen the focus
beyond Tweeters and include writings about all sorts of winged creatures,
not just birds. "Birds, butterflies, and dragonflies...." Good
suggestions, yes (thanks to you both!). My original intent was to make
this a tribute to Tweeters, but the poet in me likes the idea of
expanding the boundaries beyond Tweeters and Cascadia to celebrate all of
flight. We'll see what happens....

For now, my question to the List is: Anyone else out there working on
such a collection?
