The Washington BirdBox is a voice mailbox sponsored by the Washington
Ornithological Society. To leave a message about a notable sighting, or
to listen to the most recent messages, call (206) 454-2662 and follow
the prompts. First-time BirdBox users may find it convenient, before
calling, to review the status of Washington's chickadee species.

The Washington Ornithological Society would like to see the BirdBox
become a statewide aid to Birders. One of the reasons for this transcription
is as a service to those outside the local calling area and for people living
outside WA who are interested for whatever reason. We would like to offer an
email transcription service to anyone with a message for the BirdBox. (The
email will be placed as a phone message as well as an errorfree message on

9:05 AM, March 29 - Hi, my name is Steve Lindjord. My daughter Stephanie
Lindjord and I spotted two Sandhill Cranes this morning at North Creek Park
off of Highway 527 and 183rd north of Bothell. The spotting was at about 8
o'clock this morning. They were sitting out in the marsh area of North Creek
Park Boardwalk. We can be reached at 483-1189. Thank you.

9:11 AM, March 29 - Hi, once again this is Steve Lindjord with an addendum to
our first message. We just wanted to also mention two possibles. Very strong
possibilities of a Whimbrel and two Willets near each other in the same area
as the Sandhill Cranes.

12:30 PM, March 29 - Dave Sawyer(?) at 932-6603. Right now at the Big Ditch,
north of Stanwood there is a Long-eared Owl roosting very comfortably right
at the end of the road. You go across to the ditch, make a left along the
levee, go up about 50 feet to the little fence that guards a little thicket
there and just look right down the fenceline and it's sitting there about 5
feet off the ground. It's comfortable except for the fact that a robin is
harassing it a little bit which is how I found it. It will probably be there
all day today. I wouldn't be surprised if it's gone tomorrow. Thanks.

[There were no messages recorded on Sunday, March 30 until the last check at
9:30 PM. There was also a long power outage Sunday afternoon and early Sunday
evening due to a windstorm so one would just have heard ringing].
