An announcement before the sightings. At Birders' night on Thursday April
3rd, Dr Lee Gass of the UBC Hummingbird Lab will give a talk on Hummingbird
Biology: Cognition and Flight. This Birders' Night is also Dutch Auction
Night so bring your bird-related items for sale and come prepared to bring
home Bargains!

Sightings for Monday March 31

TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRES were at several locations, including the bowling green
at QE Park, on Kaslo st between Yale and Wall St. and at Almond Park on Kent
Ave. in Vancouver. An Immature NORTHERN SHRIKE and 2 RING-NECKED DUCKS were
at Deer Lake Park. A SNOWY OWL was at the entrance to the Pitt Polder in
Maple Ridge. 2 TURKEY VULTURES were over Spanish Banks and a EURASIAN
WIGEON was at Jericho Park in the West Pond. A LONG-BILLED CURLEW was at
Blackie Spit.

In a late report for Sunday, a male ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRD was in the old
subdivision on Sea Island.

Sightings for Sunday March 30

A possible NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD was at 8th and Yew in Vancouver. A
TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE was again seen in the SW corner of the bowling green at
Queen Elizabeth Park. Another bird was in a yard at 49th and Boundary Rd.
3 SNOWY OWLS and 4 EURASIAN WIGEON were seen from the Boundary Bay dike
between 64th and 72nd. A NORTHERN SHRIKE, a SHORT-EARED OWL, an AMERICAN
KESTRAL and a NORTHERN SAW-WHET OWL were at Colony Farm. 2 SANDHILL CRANES
were at the Aloette River in Pitt Meadows.

Sightings for Monday March 31

3 SANDHILL CRANES, 2 adults and an immature bird, were in the Aloette
Polder. In a late report from Friday, the spring arrival TOWNSEND'S
SOLITAIRE was in the SW corner of the bowling green at Queen Elizabeth Park.
A BARN OWL was at Colony Farm.
