Hello, this is Portland Audubon Society's Rare Bird Report. This recording
was made Thursday May 1. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at
233-3976.

A YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER was found April 24 at Fields in southeastern
Oregon. It could not be relocated the next day. This would be the second
state record.

The peak of the spring migration is now passing through with large numbers
of waterbirds conspicuously migrating along the coast. Land bird movements
have been rather spotty.

An AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER was at Brookings April 27. A WILLET was flying
northward off Harbor the same day. Among the shorebird swarm at Pony Slough
at Coos Bay April 28 were 150 SEMIPALMATED PLOVER and two LONG-BILLED
CURLEWS, but no RUFF.

On April 26 an immature BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT HERON, a male YELLOW-HEADED
BLACKBIRD, and four SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS were in the Rentenaar Road area on
the east side of Sauvie Island. Also there were three PEREGRINE FALCONS and
eight immature BALD EAGLES.

A male CALLIOPE HUMMINGBIRD was at Mt. Tabor Park in east Portland April
27. A pair of HARLEQUIN DUCKS were on a log jam in Oak Slough in southeast
Portland April 26. A POORWILL was calling in Gladstone early in the morning
of April 27. A SOLITARY SANDPIPER was at the Mollala Sewage Ponds April 29.
A PACIFIC-SLOPE FLYCATCHER was at Ripplebrook along the Clackamas River
that day.

A SEMIPALMATED PLOVER and a SOLITARY SANDPIPER were among the shorebird
swarms at the Forest Grove Ponds April 26. Both rails and a WESTERN TANAGER
were also seen. A BRANT has been at the Baskett Slough NWR all week. Among
the many migrants at Detroit Flats, in the Cascades east of Salem April 27
was a DUSKY FLYCATCHER.

A male CALLIOPE HUMMINGBIRD visited a feeder in northwest Corvallis and a
male BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK was in Philomath April 28. A SOLITARY SANDPIPER
was at the E.E. Wilson SWA and a LESSER YELLOWLEGS was north of Corvallis
April 27. Up to seven WHIMBREL have been near Tangent all week.

A BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER has been near Benelsen Road and 18th. Street in
west Eugene all week. A male CALLIOPE HUMMINGBIRD was in Elmira west of
Eugene April 28. A BULLOCK'S ORIOLE was in Ashland April 26.

Four GREATER YELLOWLEGS, 47 AVOCETS, and five BLACK-NECKED STILTS were at
the Willow Creek SWA east of Arlington April 25. Several BANK SWALLOWS were
back at their colony south of The Dalles April 27.

Tuesday May 6 is Birder's Night at Portland Audubon. Meet in Audubon House
at 7:30 PM for the latest birding news.

Thats it for this week.
