This is Kas Dumroese with the northern Idaho / eastern Washington /
northeastern Oregon bird hotline.

Elaine Sullivan reports an AMERICAN WHITE PELICAN on the
Clearwater River east of Lewiston, ID on Apr 23. The bird was about
8 miles east of Lewiston along US 95 / US 12, near the island that's
covered with goose nesting boxes, just before US 12 splits off and US
95 heads south over the river. ID DeLorme 54, A1.

A LINCOLN'S SPARROW has been visiting my bird feeder on the south
end of Paradise Ridge, 5 miles south of Moscow, ID, for nearly a week.
It's a shy visitor with the White-crowneds, but I see it a couple of
times each day. Your best bet for seeing it is to bring donuts, a latte
for my wife, and spend some time looking out our windows. Give me
a call if you're interested. 208-883-0943.

John and Amy Roberson saw 3 CASPIAN TERNS at the south end of
Rock Lake in northwestern Whitman Co., WA, on Apr 19. Head
northwest from St. John on WA 23 to Ewan. In Ewan, take the paved
road right about 2 miles to the lake. WA DeLorme 72, CD-3.

An Idaho, solitary, SOLITARY SANDPIPER was just east of Palouse,
WA, on North River Road, about 1 mile east of the stateline last Sat,
according to John and Marty Hirth. ID DeLorme 58, B1. Take ID 6
west from US 95, just south of the Potlatch Jct. Head west and take
the first left onto North River Road.

Other good spring sightings include reports of CINNAMON TEAL,
GREATER and LESSER YELLOWLEGS, and arrivals of both CALLIOPE
and RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRDS to the Palouse, including the north side
of Moscow Mountain.

YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRDS have returned to the waste water
pond at the University of Idaho Forest Research Nursery, about 1 mile
east of Moscow along ID 8. Turn north (left) onto Lenville Road, take
the next right to the greenhouses, then walk south of the greenhouses
to the pond.

Good birding!
