Under my spruce trees this afternoon were two sparrows mixed in with the
pine siskins. From my bird books I deduced that they were probably
Savanah sparrows. Are they fat round sparrows with a yellow stripe by
the eye, heavily striped upper body but a plain belly? They were
definately not yellow crowned or even a white crowned sparrow with a dye
job.

PS I took a birding trip to Nebraska....no one told me it was d--- cold
in Nebraska in April......I did get to see all of those cranes in the
Platte River plus one whooper. Also added Prairie Chickens to my list
and prairie dogs though not to to the same list!
