Our Kestrel's have hatched. Saw Pa bring Ma some feed that she promptly took
into the nest. Number unknown.

Boy did we have a great day! Had a "big" hawk land in out elm tree. I
thought it was a red-tail as one roosted there over the winter. The Pa
Kestrel flew to chase away the intruder. Not a redtail. He is all black with
barring on the tail. He was joined by a lighter colored hawk. They didn't
stay close for a real good ID, but kept watching. Later they flew over close
again and Bill & I set out to watch some more. (This was when we discovered
our kestrels had hatched).

To make a long story short... The lighter colored bird landed in our other
elm and we thought it was an osprey! Than big black bird comes and and we
get an x-rated show. Well...We believe them to be Swainson's Hawk, and the
femeale is still in immature plummage.

We will be watching for them again today.
