Good Morning,

Our possible Swainson's Hawks are building a nest next door! They are
ripping out branches of a Birch tree and constructing the nest in the top of
a pine next to it. It will be interesting to see if they persist as the tree
is in my neighbor's front yard. What with the pedestrian and vehicular
traffic plus tractors and sprayers that will be active at the sight...

We are keeping the binnoculars glued to them in the hopes of a positive ID.
They fly with their wings in a "V" and I did see rust color on the carpal
and underwing parts. Tail appears black.

We had a "black" hawk spend the winter roosting in that pine and believed
him to be a Rough-leg. Now we have a 'black" hawk building a nest in that
tree that appears to be a Swainson's...which winters in Argentina!

Any hawk experts out there?
