Hi OBOL & TWEETERS:
I am working with the team that is putting
together the Species-Habitat Project for
Oregon and Washington...a huge undertaking
that will result in a published document to be
used by wildlife managers throughout the two
states. At the moment I am trying to match
the Bohemian waxwing and the broad-tailed
hummer with the habitats they are most often
associated with when in Oregon and/or
Washington. All accounts for these species
naturally describe their habitats in other
states...broad-tails for instance might be in
doug-fir, oaks, juniper, mountain mahogany,
willow-riparian habitat, ponderosa forests
etc...depending on where they are in
Colorado or Arizona. But what about
Oregon??? In what habitats have you seen
these birds here? For Bohemian waxwings
I'd like to know the elevations you've seen
these birds at, I don't expect they are very
high in winter. And what the habitats were -
grand fir? alder? doug fir? strictly urban?
Thanks in advance for your help!
