I would like to thank and congratulate Bill and Nancy LaFromboise for their
great work in coordinating the WOS Conference in Kennewick. They covered
all of the details with good planning and thoughtfulness. This was my first
WOS conference. They have set a very high standard for conferences to follow.

On the way to Kennewick Thursday, May 1, I stopped at the Grandview sewage
ponds for about half an hour. Not the best fragrance for a birding local
but teaming with birds. The highlight was a Baird's Sandpiper in breeding
plumage along with one Western Sandpiper, six Least Sandpipers, one
black-necked Stilt and two Eared Grebes.

Sunday afternoon I was scouting an area to take a group of Cub Scouts and
saw a Peregrine Falcon fly over Highway 24 just east of Yakima. It was my
first Yakima County Peregrine!
