Last evening whilst standing on our balcony, we were treated to the
melodious sounds of a pair of Great Horned Owls sitting next to one another
in a tree top by the ocean. Beautiful sound, very harmonic. It wasn't long
before we were able to spot the birds as one flew off to a different tree
where they continued to call back and forth.

I couldn't resist a try at communication so hooted back at them. That was
enough to convince the owl left behind that it was time to join it's
companion! Guess I wasn't all that convincing, huh?

Anyway, nice surprise!

PS The Hooded Orioles continue to engage in nest building. They arrive
just before dusk and strip fibers off the palm tree next door.
Interestingly, they aren't particularly quiet about this.
