I tried to find Spud man on my USGS topo but I couldn't find it (or him)...

Actually, pairs of ferruginous hawks in these more westerly portions of
Yakima County are of considerable interest, particularly if indicative of
a nesting territory. The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife does
not have any record of nests west of the Yakima Canyon. Zillah is about
as far west as Ferruginous Hawks are known to nest in Washington.
