For those of you who might be searching for new optical equiptment, "A
Better View Desired" is a company that tests optical equipment and writes
reviews. For $20 per year, you can received their reviews. Their homepage

They have a "Reference Set" that lists the best binos and scopes for each

I followed their recommendation and bought the scope they rated as the "best
birding scope", a Nikon 60mm Fieldscope EDII. While I am a little less than
totally satisfied with it, in rereading their review about it, I think they
were quite accurate in their assessment.
