Saturday in Gilliam County was a beautiful day, although the wind started
to picked up by mid-morning. Gilliam County is located in North-Central
Oregon.

A quick count tallied 63 species, down from 71 last year. Viroes and
warblers put in a poor showing, with only Orange-Crowned Warbler (2) seen.
Highlights included WHITE PELICAN (1) along I-84, west of Willow Creek,
WHITE-THROATED SWIFT (6) along the Trail Fork Road (for at least the third
year in a row) and 4 Ferruginous Hawks (one in the most beautiful plumage I
have ever seen - looked like the illustration in the Nat'l Geo Guide) and
GRAY PARTRIDGE (2).
