On a hot and beautiful May 13th, 15 folks from East Lake Washington Audubon
birded Spencer Island. We couldn't believe our eyes when a River Otter
crossed the gravel path in front of us as we headed for the bridge. No one
had a camera. Saw 3 more otters in the large pond. We saw 42 bird species,
including 5 Bald Eagles, 1 Osprey, 1 Turkey Vulture, 1 Spotted Sandpiper, 17
L-B Dowitchers, 1 Sharp-shinned Hawk, Northern Harrier, American Goldfinch,
Swainson's Thrush, 14 Cedar Waxwings, 1 Western Tanager, 1 Black-headed
Grosbeak, 1 Downy Woodpecker, Gadwall, Mallard, Lesser Scaup, Bufflehead,
American Wigeon, Northern Shoveler, Common Yellowthroat, Yellow Warbler,
Marsh Wren, geese, swallows.......
