Why not pick up a copy of "The Birder's Guide to Oregon", available
via mail-order from Portland Audubon at (503) 292-WILD? It covers
these areas in detail, as well as other birding opportunities
in the area, and has maps describing how to get to the places.

I went to Malhuer and Klamath Falls last week (excellent birding) and stopped
in Bend on my way back. If you get the book "The Birder's Guide to Oregon"
you might try "Hatfield Lake" (read sewer ponds) on page 140. You need a
scope to check out the ponds but there were quite a few shorebirds there and
it wasn't too far out of town. In the book it says turn onto the "unnamed
access" road to the ponds. The road is named, "McGrath Rd".
