We've had very good luck with those window hawk silhouettes (found 'em
at Wild Birds Unlimited). We put them in the corners of the windows,
so as not to obscure too much of our view, and now we don't really
notice them. The good news is that since we put them up, we haven't
had any window strikes; the year preceeding that, we had six strikes
and four deaths.

Sadly, I found a red crossbill dead outside my front widow yesterday
morning(near the entrance to Windemere, off Sand Point). I suspect
that it
flew into the window, though I could find no evidence of it. As this
is the
second time in 6 months that this has occured, I am looking for
suggestions
to make birds more cautious. Would an owl figure be of any use here?
