Hi Tweets:

Nancy & I went down to Renton & Kent in the morning and did Discovery Park
in the afternoon. Highlights include:

1 Great Egret at the pond at the Boeing facility just west of where
Longacres Racetrack used to be. It has been there for a couple of weeks.

300+ Cackling Canada Geese at the Kent Ponds. Cackling Canada's were rare
here until just a few years ago. There were long skeins circling the ponds
and some finally decided to land. Their absurdly high pitched calls
attracted attention. At least one had a yellow neck band with what looked to
be a number "7" on it. Also a Merlin present.

20 Dunlins, 3 Greater Yellowlegs, and 1 Long-billed Dowitcher there and 25
Dunlins and 35 Long-billed Dowitchers in a field south of Renton along West
Valley Rd. just south of the Smith Dairy Farm.

10 Heermann's Gulls still off West Point in Discovery Park with Bonaparte's
and Mews; 2 Oldsquaws flying south (I like that name; though politically
incorrect, it is actually onomatopoetic, not scurrilous) and also two
Pacific Loons; 700 Western Grebes; 24 Sanderlings; all three scoters.
