Only males in winter - Bah, I thought.

But when I looked at my records, I've only noted one female at Nisqually
(10/5/96) and one female at Marymoor Park (11/10/94). No records at all
from December through April. In contrast, I've seen at least 28 males in
the October through April period (and noted them in each of those months).
I've also seen 34 in winter without determining sex.

Looks like there could be something to this - kind of like Red-winged
Blackbirds, where most females seem to leave, and many males seem to stay?
