Tom,

Unfortunately, the best weekend for many of the Eastern Washington counts is
the opening weekend. We would lose 15% of our species and 25% of our total
individuals due to the cold weather if we postponed the Yakima count until
the last weekend. Besides, the Yakima count has "always" been on the first
day of the count period. How can we justify messing with the data by moving
the date?

The Yakima and Toppenish counts are both in need of experienced birders to
fill in as route leaders. The Yakima count will two or three good routes
that are now open. If anyone is interested in coming over for the weekend
of the 20th and 21st for the Yakima and toppenish counts, please e-mail me
or Andy Stepniewski.

Thanks,

Denny Granstrand
Yakima
