This is the Vancouver, B.C. Bird Alert for Tuesday, November 4th,
9:00 P.M. update.

Rare bird alert for a ROCK WREN.

Other birds of interest are YELLOW-BILLED LOON & ROCK SANDPIPER.

Sightings for Tuesday, November 4th

A ROCK WREN was observed just south of the foot of Beecher in
Crescent Beach. It is frequenting some of the logs on the beach.
Also at this location again were the YELLOW-BILLED LOON and
the ROCK SANDPIPER.

Eight BLACK OYSTERCATCHERS were sighted at the entrance to West
Van's Fisherman's Cove. Another 43 BLACK OYSTERCATCHERS and 230
SURFBIRDS were counted on the Bird Islets. Along Bowen Islands
west side 4 MARBLED MURRELETS were recorded.

A NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen at the foot of 72nd at Boundary Bay.

Monday, November 3rd

The ROCK WREN was discovered at Crescent Beach in rocks near the
end of Beecher. Also near this location was a YELLOW-BILLED LOON
and the ROCK SANDPIPER which has been observed since Friday.
It has been seen with SANDERLING and DUNLIN.

Sunday, November 2nd

In Crescent Beach near the foot of Sullivan the YELLOW-BILLED
LOON was observed feeding at times within meters of shore. Also
at this location was the ROCK SANDPIPER.

The 3 AMERICAN AVOCETS were observed on the foreshore near the
mouth of the Serpentine River. Three AMERICAN PIPITS were seen
in the same general area of Serpentine Fenn.

Another AMERICAN PIPIT was seen at Pt. Roberts' Light House Park.
Also seen at this location was a LAPLAND LONGSPUR and 14 ANCIENT
MURRELETS.

The COMMON EIDER was observed with a very large flock of primarily
SURF SCOTERS along the West Vancouver shorline between 25th and
28th Streets.

CRESTED MYNAS were reported from two locations: Burrard and 2nd;
and Marine and Osler.

An EARED GREBE was sighted on the outer pond at Iona.

Saturday, November 1st

A FRANKLIN'S GULL was seen at Blackie Spit.

A number of SNOW BUNTINGS were reported from the Iona Jetty.

Nine BLACK OYSTERCATCHERS were observed near Siwash Rock in Stanley
Park.

A tan morph WHITE-THROATED SPARROW has been visiting a feeder for
several days on Harbor Green Dr. in South Surrey.

Friday, October 31st

A ROCK SANDPIPER was seen at the foot of Sullivan St. in Crescent
Beach.

Six SNOW BUNTINGS were seen along the Iona Jetty.

Thursday, October 30th

The 3 AMERICAN AVOCETS were again seen at the mouth of the Serpentine
River near the railway trestle. This area is best accessed using
Colebrook Rd. and 131st.
