Today we had l4 Cattle Egrets on rocks in the Columbia River, above the =
bridge at Bridgeport, Wash. (Chief Joseph Dam). First seen, but =
thought they were gulls, approx. l0:00 a.m. Approx. 2:00 p.m. stopped =
to see if our Western Gull was visiting again, and the other =
"gulls"turned out to be Cattle Egrets. First time either or us had seen =
them in Douglas Co. The l4th flew in while we were watching. Rick took =
photos, but it was overcast, so we shall see. They were sleeping, some =
on one foot. We last saw them at 4:30 p.m. I have a list from Ken =
Knittle that says there are less than 5 records of Cattle Egrets in =
Douglas Co. Meredith Spencer (and Rick Hendrick)
Yes, the Western Gull was nearby.
