Just before reaching our survey route, we were treated to a view of an
American Tree Sparrow, a bird I had for watching for all last winter to no
avail.
Waterfowl continue to be the dominant sighting. In the bay at the north end
of the lake were 4 Barrow's Goldeneyes(1 adult male, 1 adult female, and 2
juveniles). The number of Mallards has increased 50% and Common Mergansers
have returned in force. They were doing their jet ski imitation in the lake
and in the river. The Green-winged Teal appear to be all but gone, saw only
4.
In other news, a Cattle Egret was seen in Kaslo, BC several days last week
and a Blue Jay(Eastern) has been visiting a feeder in Meadow Creek, BC for
some time now.
