hi bob,
since i took lots of photos of the sharp-tailed sandpiper today,i need
someone other than my son, to
examine the photos.patrick saw the bird on th 4 of october at 3:30 in the
afternoon he thinks this is the same bird he saw today.it would be
interesting to find this out.since last year i have photos of three
different sharp- tailed sandpipers every one looks different.i willget
this photos developed tomorrow, than i can tell more.one other think, there
bin only onother sighting this late, in1976
the 21 of dezember. this bird we saw was real relaxed he was in the front
pond with one long-billed dowitcher and2 dunlin. not feeding this resting
and preening last years bird was acting more skittish when he came to the
front pond.we was standing close to the fence, with two other people from
paulsbo on bikes we was talking the whole time explaining to them how rare
this bird is.we got both of them so exited, we exchanged phone numbers.all
this time the bird stayed around, it not seems to bother him,I think is a
male because of bill size.we watched the bird almost fo one hour than he
followed the dunlin which flew to the other side of the pond this is where
we left him
