11/06/97, 7:56 a.m. Hi, this is Tom Aversa, 782.7342, reporting for a
trip to Ocean Shores yesterday, the 5th. Nothing too unusual...three ROCK
SANDPIPERS still at the jetty, along with a BLACK SCOTER, a few PELICANS
and HEERMAN'S GULLS moving south off the jetty, a NORTHERN SHRIKE at the
airport, two PALM WARBLERS across from the marina, an AMERICAN BITTERN in
the tower pond, and the EARED GREBE remains at Damon Point Park. Also had
a PACIFIC GOLDEN PLOVER on the Brady loop road off of route 12 in Gray's
Harbor county.

11/4/97 3:22 p.m. This is Rusty Hazard, 477.0123. On monday, Nov. 3, in
the evening the GREAT EGRET was still at the old Longacres pond south of
the Boeing facility, and at Coulon [sp?] park in Renton, there were nine
GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE, three of which were adults; six juveniles.

11/3/97 6:52 a.m. Hi, this is Steve Mlodinow. Yesterday Bill Tweit and
Brian Bell and I went down to the Vancouver/Ridgefield area. At Vancouver
Lake we had 10 SHORT-EARED OWLS flushed up by hunters. We had a GREAT
EGRET at Post Office Lake. In the town of Ridgefield heading from the
town to the non-hunting unit of Ridgefield NWR, which I believe is the
river unit, we had 5 WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS. These were on the south
side of "G" Creek, where the road crosses the creek. We also had 500
SANDHILL CRANES in a field near Woodland, along the Lewis river, and an
EARED GREBE at the Vancouver Sewage pond. That's it. Good luck and good
birding.

11/2/97 7:55 p.m. Hi, Scott Downes, 361.7073. Today we went up to Mount
Baker Ski Area and had 6 COMMON REDPOLLS in a flock of 80 PINE SISKINS
overlooking the Begley Lakes area. Also there were 13 WHITE-WINGED
CROSSBILLS, including females, juveniles, and at least two adult males.
Thanks, good luck and good birding.

11/2/97 5:57 p.m. Hi, this is Patrick Sullivan along with Ruth Sullivan
reporting from Tacoma, Washington, at 253.564.7419. Today, on the flooded
fields just west of the Emerald Downs Racetrack, one AMERICAN GOLDEN
PLOVER and one ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK were observed and photographed. At the
Kent Ponds, one EARED GREBE was observed. Thank you. Good luck

Sunday, 11/02/96, 3:53 p.m. Hi, this is Barry Levine, calling from
Seattle, 206.526.8676, and I'd like to report today a EURASIAN WIGEON in
beautiful plumage at Green Lake. It was on the west side of the lake in
the NW corner. Thanks.

Sunday, 11/02/97 7:54 a.m. Hello, this is Dave Beaudette, 206.365.2083.
Saturday, Nov. 1, birded Grant County in Central Washington. Seen from
O'Sullivan Dam at Potholes Reservior was a PACIFIC LOON, three BARN
SWALLOWS, and 250 BONAPARTE'S GULLS. Flying at the northeast part of
Brooks Lake was a juvenile GYRFALCON, DeLorme Atlas page 69 A6 1/2, and
along highway 17 about midway up Lake Lenore was a SURF SCOTER, and near
the north end of Lake Lenore were a SURF SCOTER, a RED-BREASTED MERGANSER,
and a flock of six WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS, and also three CHUKARS were along
highway 17 between Blue and Park Lakes at about 3:30 p.m. Catch you later
bye bye.

Sunday, 11/02/97, 7:06 a.m. This is Hal Opperman at 425.635.0503,
reporting from a Seattle Audubon Field trip Saturday to the Kittitas
Valley. We found good numbers of raptors, including about 10 ROUGH-LEGGED
HAWKS and one HARLAN'S HAWK, which was on the east side of Faust Road
between Clark road and Hungry Junction Road, on a power pole and trees
along the irrigation canal. There were also quite a few SHARP-SHINNED AND
COOPER'S HAWKS in the valley, apparently still migrating. Most unusual
were one or maybe two OSPREYS near [sounds like Swall], and that's a large
fishing pond on the north side of I-90 at the south edge of Ellensburg.
Another sign of lingering summer was a BARN SWALLOW, seen at the Purini
[sp?] fishing facility north of the Thrall exit on I-82, and along road 6
just east of there. Thanks and good birding.

Sunday, 11/02/97, 6:51 a.m. Hi, this is Gene Revoorts [sp?] in
Tacoma, 756.7834. Berk Lemaya, Mullie Geparrie and I [transcriber's note
- the names above are probably all misspelled, but I put down about how
they sounded] birded Ocean Shores yesterday, and we had a RED KNOT at the
base of Damon Spit in a group of DUNLIN and BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER. There
was an EARED GREBE on the pond at Damon Point. There was a GREAT EGRET
on the Game Range, and there were a couple of ROCK SANDPIPERS in with a
large group of SURFBIRDS and BLACK TURNSTONES at the Jetty. That's it.
Good luck and good birding.
