Andy: Most interesting report, I'm envious. How do we find out about
trips like this ahead of time?
You asked: "By the way, these two were excluded from the
official trip list. I thought it interesting that, in all my years of
birding (28), I had never encountered captive falcons engaged in sport. =
In the couse of an hour on the Waterville, we stumbled on two. Was there
a
convention of falconers here this weekend?"

Yes the WFA (Western Falconers Association) had their Fall falconry meet
in Ephrata and your observation explains why we could not find them in
the Ephrata Recreation Center or the Oasis Campground as advertised.
They were all out flying their birds!!!
A loose, poorly organized group in my opinion. We birded our way to
Ephrata and back and had a good time anyway.

Thanks again for the interesting report and for many of your interesting
posts that I have read in the past.
