We found it on Sunday Morning by walking up the main trail (away from the
parking lot), then turning left up a side trail at a white post in the
ground with a black arrow pointing left. The owl was about 15 ft. up, 3
ft. out on a branch in a thin evergreen on the right side (as you walk away
from the main trail) of the side trail about 20 ft. from the turn-off. I
would not characterize the owl as 'readily visible'...you could easily walk
right past it... By the way, some dog-walkers told me that the bird has
been there for months...

Gook luck!
