There's what appears to be a first fall male Oldsquaw at the Kent Ponds
today at lunch. As you stand on the Puget Power trail and face the
entrance gate into the ponds, the bird was feeding in the small close
pond on your left. It was in the company of a female Bufflehead. There
was also one Black-bellied Plover in with a smaller flock of shorebirds
plus enough of an assortment of birds (female Hooded Merganser, Ruddy
Ducks, etc.) further out to remind me never to return here again without
a scope!
