*** Seasick patches back on market, FDA says

Popular behind-the-ear patches for seasickness, taken off the market
in 1994 by Novartis, are available again, the U.S. Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) said Monday. It said Novartis had re-formulated
the scopolamine patches and now the agency had also approved them for
use in preventing the nausea that often accompanies an anesthetic for
surgery or childbirth. A spokeswoman for the FDA said the approval
followed the company's quiet return of the patch to the market.
Side-effects include dry mouth, drowsiness and blurred vision. For
