Here's a tip someone passed on to me about finding Cattle Egrets: they like
to hang around with any herd/flocking animal that's white; occasionally,
they'll hang with white birds such as gulls, swans and domestic waterfowl.

Also, they might roost inside an available barn if that's where the animals
go. In the early 1990's, a Cattle Egret overwintered in South Delta here
until April, pottering about in a small roadside field with a couple of
ponies, then early one winter evening, I saw it roosting in their stable on
an overhead rafter.

Lame excuse, Deb. Haven't you ever heard of the runner who delivered the
news of the Battle of Marathon? Ran thirty miles at top gallop, rattled off
the story of the Greek victory and dropped dead. Now *that's* news delivery!
Better than cable! Can a birder be expected to do less? Ha! Yeah, right.
Just wait until I get the flu this winter: "I'd like to rebort ad
exceptiodally large flog of (snivel) Abericad Robids that just wed over
(hack-kaff) by house: I saw dem through duh widow from my death- I bean, by
sickbed (wheeze). Wa-CHOO! Oh, god--" '-)
