Hello, this is Portland Audubon Society's Rare Bird Report. This
recording was made Thursday November 13. If you have anything to add call
Harry Nehls at 233-3976.

The two TROPICAL KINGBIRDS continue to be seen at the effluent ponds on
the North Spit of Coos Bay, but the SCISSOR-TAILED FLYCATCHER apparently
has left.

Two PALM WARBLERS and three WESTERN BLUEBIRDS were near Langlois on the
southern Oregon coast November 8. The next day a FRANKLIN'S GULL, a RED
KNOT, two WHIMBRELS and an OLDSQUAW were at Bandon. Many shorebirds are
still being seen on the flats there. Single late OSPREYS were at
Reedsport and over Vancouver Lake, WA November 9.

Two OLDSQUAWS were on Meares Lake at Tillamook Bay November 9. Another
was on Netarts Bay the next day. A POMARINE JAEGER was off Ecola State
Park November 11. Large numbers of KITTIWAKES and BONAPARTE'S GULLS are
still being seen off the South Jetty of the Columbia River, but BROWN
PELICANS and HEERMANN'S GULLS are in very low numbers. A probable BLACK
PHOEBE was at the mill pond at the end of Avenue S in Astoria November 9.

A BARRED OWL was seen the evening of November 7 in downtown Portland. It
was in the park blocks near the public library. Two adult RED-SHOULDERED
HAWKS were in North Portland November 6. Another adult was at Jackson
Bottom in Hillsboro the morning of November 8. Two RED-SHOULDERED HAWKS
were in Ankeny NWR near Salem November 11. Two late BARN SWALLOWS were
there that day also.

An ASH-THROATED FLYCATCHER was seen flying near the Corvallis Airport
November 11. The SNOW BUNTING was seen again at the Philomath Sewage
Ponds November 8. Two NORTHERN SHRIKES were at Finley NWR November 8,
along with a ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK and a WHITE-TAILED KITE. A KITE was in
Alton-Baker Park in Eugene November 12. Two WHITE PELICANS were over
north Eugene November 9.

The John Day Dam on the Columbia River is now attracting many birds. A
COMMON TERN and a MEW GULL were there November 8. Over the last week-end
a COMMON and a PACIFIC LOON, a SURF SCOTER, 2 RED-NECKED GREBES, 50
WESTERN GREBES, and over 100 BONAPARTE'S GULLS were near the dam. Both
GREATER and LESSER SCAUP, and COMMON and BARROW'S GOLDENEYES are now in
good numbers in the Columbia River Gorge.

An albino BARN SWALLOW and a PACIFIC LOON were along the Deschutes River
in Bend November 11. A HARRIS'S SPARROW, a PURPLE FINCH, and a GOSHAWK
were at Fields in southeastern Oregon November 11.

Thats it for this week.
