On 11/11 there was a BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER flock at
the East 90 in Skagit County, and with them was one
PACIFIC GOLDEN PLOVER.

Saturday, 11/15/97 10:35 p.m. Hi, this is Dave Beaudette.
206-365-2083. November 15th hiked along the Pacific
Crest Trail north of Stevens Pass. Had a flock of 12
BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS in trees above the Pacific Crest
Trail along the Snohomish-Chelan county line north of Lake
Valhalla on the mountain at the southwest corner of Section
26, Township 27 North, Range 13 East. The area can be
reached from U.S. 2 east of Stevens Pass. Go up Forest
Service Road 6700 to Trail 5090, then hike up to Union Gap
and the Pacific Crest Trail. Head south from Union Gap to
this area. The waxwings were at elevation about 5,700 feet.
And in the afternoon went to Green Lake and saw the
CATTLE EGRET on the lawn behind the Bathhouse
Theater. The bird was seen from 4:20 to 4:29 p.m. Thank

Saturday, 11/15/97 1:55 p.m. Hi, this is Greg Toffic. Today
maybe, oh, half an hour ago, 45 minutes perhaps, one of
the keepers at Woodland Park Zoo reported an egret, a
small egret, crow-sized, flying and being harassed by
crows and gulls. It crossed over the zoo and headed down
towards Ballard being pursued by crows and gulls. I wasn't
on grounds at the time and didn't get a look at it, but from
the description, the suggestion was that it was a CATTLE
EGRET, so anyone who's birding in the area might keep
your eyes open west of Phinney Ridge at about the zoo or
down into Ballard. Good luck.

Saturday, 11/15/97 1:32 p.m. Hello, this is Eugene Hunn
Seattle 206-524-8112 and there's a CATTLE EGRET that
was first spotted about 11 o'clock this afternoon at Green
Lake, near the Bathhouse Theater on the north end by
Martin Muller and independently by myself at about 1 p.m.
It seems to be foraging in that area, and it's quite
approachable. Also of interest, at the Kent Ponds, there
were two immature TUNDRA SWANS this morning. In the
general vicinity, about 400 CANADAS, including at least a
couple of hundred CACKLING. And at Alki Beach, just
south of the lighthouse, there were nine SURFBIRDS, four
BLACK TURNSTONES, 55 SANDERLINGS foraging on
the beach at low tide at about noon today. Thank you.
