Mr. Kennedy - if the snow conditions are right you can combine cross-country
skiing and white-headed woodpecker watching in Leavenworth, Wa. The
woodpeckers are always around at that time even if the snow isn't. Suggest the
Ski Jump Hill course or the Hatchery course near Sleeping Lady Lodge, both
areas have plenty of pines. As for skiing, the Golf Course is also great but
too open for the woodpeckers. Stop in at "Sure to Rise Bakery" in Cashmere
for a treat on your way north(you'll be glad for the blatant commercialism
