Max, you might want to try:

They've got some NA names and some shared-species names.

Another excellent source would be Handbook of the Birds of the Western
Palaearctic, vols 1-9, Cramp & Simmons, but you'd have to come down to the
Big Smoke to use it at the Woodward Biomedical Library on the University of
BC Campus. I was able to persuade the librarians to make it a
non-circulating title: somebody had it out all summer and into the autumn,
what a pain as it's the only publicly-accessible set I know of in Vancouver,
and still about the best all-round ID/behavior/subspecies/migration route
and chronology books around.

Better not jump in your car tonight, though: apparently a really nasty Low
with very high winds and lots of rain is rumbling in toward the southern BC
coast tonight. Supposed to dump big snow up your way, though, and get the
ski-season underway.
