As soon as it's dark for the night about 5,000 Sanderlings arrive on the
beach. I find it interesting that they choose to be where the street
lights illuminate the shore. Early they chase the waves, later they
tuck their little heads for sleep. I never see them past mid-night as I
too tuck my little head under my downy covers. I can only assume they
remain on the shore until dawn. Question: Does anyone know where
they spend the daylight hours?
