Hello, this is Portland Audubon Society's Rare Bird Report. This
recording was made Thursday November 20. If you have anything to add call

A BLUE JAY was seen in Bend the morning of November 12, but could not be
relocated later in the day. Another BLUE JAY was in Langlois on the
southern Oregon coast November 14.

The TROPICAL KINGBIRD is still being seen on the North Spit of Coos Bay.
An OLDSQUAW, a NORTHERN SHRIKE, and four PALM WARBLERS are also in the
area. On November 18 a RED KNOT was at the effluent ponds on the spit.

Two PALM WARBLERS are still near Cape Blanco. A late BARN SWALLOW was
there November 13. Four RED PHALAROPES were near Coos Bay November 16. A
SABINE'S GULL was at Cape Arago the next day.

Large numbers of shorebirds are gathered at Pony Slough on Coos Bay. Up
to 330 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS and hundreds of LEAST and WESTERN
SANDPIPERS, and DUNLIN are among the throng.

A CATTLE EGRET and a very late SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER were on Drift Creek
Meadows near Siletz Bay November 15. Up to 5 ROCK SANDPIPERS are now
being seen on the rocks at the mouth of Depoe Bay.

Two SURF SCOTERS were on Smith Lake in North Portland November 12. A
WHITE-WINGED SCOTER was at Baskett Slough NWR November 18. North of the
refuge that day were two YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRDS and an adult GOLDEN
EAGLE.

The RED-SHOULDERED HAWK continues to be seen just north of the new kiosk
in Ankeny NWR. Another was south of Fern Ridge Reservoir November 15
along with three WHITE-TAILED KITES.

Good numbers of GREAT EGRETS are still in the Portland area with up to 10
visiting Oaks Bottom in southeast Portland. Over 100 are now at Fern
Ridge Reservoir. Several MERLINS were reported in western Oregon during
the week. Large flocks of PINE SISKINS and many RED CROSSBILLS were in
the Clackamas County Cascades November 13.

A FERRUGINOUS HAWK was near Hampton November 16. The STELLER'S JAY is
still at Malheur Headquarters. Six COMMON and two BARROW'S GOLDENEYE were
there November 16.

Six CATTLE EGRETS were near Milton-Freewater November 15. This is not
suprising as several flocks are now in Central Washington. A late
FRANKLIN'S GULL was in the Milton-Freewater area that day.

A check of northeast Oregon over the week-end found two WHITE-WINGED
CROSSBILLS, many PINE SISKINS, and a TREE SPARROW near the Enterprise
Fish Hatchery, but no BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS or other northern species.
