The imm. male or female Xantus' hummingbird was seen again Friday
morning by groups from Vancouver and Vancouver Island. The bird is at
221 2nd St. in Gibbsons, BC.
To get there - go to Horseshoe Bay Ferry Terminal in West Vancouver and
take the ferry to Langdale (around $26 CDN for round trip). The ferry
leaves Horseshoe Bay at 720am and every 2 hrs. (920,1120,130 - etc.)
and returns from Langdale at 20 after the even hrs. ( 620, 820, 1020,
etc). You can get a map of Gibbsons on the ferry. As you come off the
ferry take hwy. 101 to the west(left) into Gibbsons and follow the
coastline till you get to Gower Point Rd. Continue west several miles
until you get to the numbered cross streets (starting with 17th, I
think, until you get to 2nd St. Either park at the intersection or go
north (right) half a block and park on the right by blackberry bushes.
The house is across the street with a sawhorse in the driveway.
The bird comes to one of 3 feeders or perches in nearby shrubs. The
bird comes to one feeder 5 feet from where people stand by the yard
fence. Good photos and videos taken by many. It seems to come about
every 15-20 minutes from its various hiding places.

Good luck,

Tom Brown
