The BLACK PHOEBE was again observed and photographed today at both the
southwest end of the Washougal S.T.P. and the adjacent field with to the
west bordered by willows and low brush. The bird was actively flycatching
as well as calling and singing between 10:45am-1:45pm, and was seen flying
back and forth between the pond edges and holding tanks and the willows and
brushy edges to the west. Birders during the observations included Wilson
Cady,Dave Beaudette,Sherry and Arden Hagen, and my mother and I. Other
notable species in the area included a adult Peregrine Falcon,
Sharp-shinned Hawk, and a female B. Kingfisher(Camas). A quick check of
Budd Inlet in Olympia on the way back home produced 4 W. Sandpipers, 1 B.B.
Plover, and 1 female B. Kingfisher, but NO Y.B. Loon, but is probably still
around.
