At the end of September several of us friends who all happen to belong to
East Lake Washington Audubon, took a trip to Hawk Mtn. and Cape May, New
Jersey. Ten of us hired Paul Lehman as a guide for the day (almost dusk to
dawn.) Super nice person, of course great with the bird finding, etc. His
wife Shawneen also joined us for some of the day. Thanks to his help some of
us saw the Seaside Sparrow and Saltmarsh Sharp-tailed Sparrow in the spartina
grass. Paul didn't say much about his previous ABA position, but expressed
that he and Shawneen were enjoying a new freedom from the editing work.

So if you're in the Cape May area, be sure to look up Paul or Shawneen if you
want a birding guide.

Note: I keep my bird call tweeter on my binoc strap. Always at the ready.
Winter wrens and song sparrows just can resist responding. Lately, have had
good luck with Ruby-crowned Kinglets, too. The "squeek" also works in
central and south american countries for bringing in some birds. If one bird
responds, then others tend to approach to see what the first bird found so
interesting.
