Tweets: On our way back from Portland friday (11/21) we saw what at
first we thought was the red-shouldered hawk. We first saw it on the
west side of Hwy 12 north of Wallula perched on a pole. We stopped and
tried to check it out against the sun with not much luck. It flew from
the perch and went east over Hwy 12 to a power pole north of the power
sub-station just east of Hwy 12 on Lundgren Orchards Road. We were able
to approach quite close on foot observing field marks before flying and
as it circled around the field close by. It then took off furthur east
and out of sight. To the best of our knowledge it appeared to be a RED
MORPH of a RED-TAILED HAWK. Do any Tweeters in that area know of such a
sighting? We would appreciate confirmation or contradiction as the case
may be. thanks for your help. Hans & Katie
