I recommend a program called DMAP, which works in MS Windows.

It has a database and is fairly good for displaying and producing good
quality distribution maps. It was used for the majority of the
distribution
maps in the last British and Irish Breeding Atlas.

The best thing is to look at Alan Morton's web site:

http://www.dmap.co.uk/

or email him direct:

ajmorton at dmap.co.uk

He has a demo copy you can download + various utilities for getting at
public domain boundary files. The full program costs 70 UK Pounds

Hope this helps

Hi all,

Is there any standard application for creating databases together
with
visualistaion of data on simple maps. I mean an application that one

can use to create breeding atlas maps - set of cells filled with
different sized marks, perhaps with graphical backround (rivers
etc.)?

Regards

Tomek
