About 20 years ago, when I was working at Moss Landing Marine Labs on
Monterey Bay, a roseate spoonbill came to live in our estuary for a week or
so. It was the talk of the coast. Never did find out how it got here but it
wasn't tagged so we figured it was not a zoo escapee.
