Then there was the flamingo at Swantown Lake on Whidbey in 87 or 88, me
thinks. Nancy kept saying, "Fred, look at the flamingo over there..." and
I wouldn't look up for fear of looking stupid...then I did (look, not
look stupid -- I do that regularly anyway) and there it was. Figured it
was Chilian, escaped from Vancouver. I called Wally Funk, publisher of
the Whidbey News-Times, but it was a Sunday and he wasn't that
interested. So it goes...
