Be sure and check Half-Price book stores regularly. I visit the Crossroads
store in east Bellevue, which is near where I live, about 2 times a month. I
have picked many good bird books there, including all three volumes of the
Master Birding series over a period of 2-3 months. I was there today and
they have about two shelves of bird books, including a copy of John Terres'
"Encyclopedia of Birding" and two copies of "Where the Birds Are in the 50
states and Canada" which is very good to take when you travel around the
country.
