To answer the question of which birds like it.....well I can tell you the
birds at my feeder who fight each other for this. These are here off and on
all day, every day.

One male Red-headed Woodpecker
One male Red-bellied Woodpecker
One male, one female Downy Woodpecker
One male, one female Whitebreasted Nuthatch
A handfull of Carolina Wrens (genders unknown)
Sparrows ( too many)
2 Carolina Chickadees
2 Tufted Titmouse
Starlings (way too many)
Of course they can't all be on it at the same time *S*
I also have to mention the fact that the one Pileated Woodpecker in my yard
doesn't come to the feeder at all. I don't know everything on his menu but
I do know he loves the red berries from the Southern Magnolias.

These cakes are made into the same size as the store bought and are
destroyed very quickly.

As you can see,there are a few birds I'd rather not have at my feeder but
I'll deal with them in order not to deprive the ones I do want that have
come to enjoy the suet.

Now, about the Suet. I was not aware that some of these ingredients could
be harmful because of preservatives. I will do some studying on it and act
accordingly in future batches because of course I love the birds and
certainly don't want to do any harm to them.

In case anyone wonders what area of the States these birds are in my yard,
I'm in Southeast North Carolina. And of course those were just the birds
who eat from the Suet.....I haven't even mentioned the daily birds who come
after the Sunflower, Thistle and mixed seed but I guess that should be
another post one day in the right category. *S*
Needless to say......everyday is a treat watching the antics of all these
birds!........Ayri
