Is this a location where these two swallow species overwinter? This is a
heckuva long way N from where one would expect VGSW this late in the year,
but one year I was down at the ponds in early November and found quite a few
VGSW as well as BNSW there (sorry, can't remember the number, ~30, I think).
As it's usually--not always--the Tree Swallow's arrival that precedes the
VGSW in late winter here, that's the species I'd expect to see furthest N in
the winter.
