Did some birding at the fill this afternoon, and while there were no
smashing rarities, a couple of notables were there. The first was an adult
Greater-white Fronted Goose, at the main pond. The second were my first
Lincoln's sparrows at the fill this fall. I'm not sure what
the purpose of it is, but where some black-berries have been cut, just
south of the main east-west trail, and north of main pond, there was a
feeding station. In here were 2 Lincoln's Sparrows, 12 White-crowned
Sparrows, 1 Golden-crowned Sparrow (juv.), 2 Quail, and a Song Sparrow.

Does anybody know of the purpose of this feeding station (mind you I'm not
griping, its a wonderful place for an odd sparrow to show up, I'm just
curious)?
