I guess I'll stick my neck out now. We were also at Bowerman Basin and
surrounds fighting wind and wet this weekend. It was beautiful.
After our second venture out, back at the Motel room (Grayland Motel and
Cabins), 20-30 feet out the window, a pair of Whimbrels. They stayed
around feeding in sight for about 30 min. I am not an expert birder by
any stretch of the imagination; but, there was no confusion in this ID.
A thrill and a lifer!!

Thanks El Nino.
