Actually, when I researched my turkey article for one of the magazines up
there, Fish & Wildlife told me there was speculation that, due to bone
findings in ancient Indian habitation locales, there was some thought that
turkeys may have been found in the Pacific Northwest at one time.
Unfortunately, to date there is no way to prove the native population didn't
obtain the birds through trading.
