I would like to know what would motivate birders to get involved on a
personal level or at least why birders are not a voice in their local
communities. We seem to have an inordinate amount of time and
often money to spend pursuing our hobby, but no time to make our
voices heard.

Howdy to Janet & Tweets,

I think many (most?) of the male Birders I've known tend to be
intellectual introverts. (myself included). This personality type greatly
dislikes personal confrontations & public speaking. We would rather
hire someone else to fight for our causes. Most (all?) hunters I've
known are NOT intellectual introverts.

Thanks to those giving me a verbal kick in the butt. I'll try to do
better.

I'm not about to hang myself by trying to analyze Female Birders! :-)
